Guernsey Diploma in International Insurance Management
Learning Outcomes

Purpose

This self-study qualification has been designed as a follow-on to the Certificate in International Insurance Management for those wishing to take their understanding and knowledge of the Guernsey international insurance industry to the next level.

The Diploma is assessed by way of a 5,000-word dissertation chosen by the candidate and approved by the moderators allowing the candidate to demonstrate that they have undertaken research in their chosen area and their original thought in the area.

Assumed Knowledge

Successful completion of the Guernsey Certificate in International Insurance Management is a pre-requisite for entry onto the Guernsey Diploma in International Insurance Management.

Summary of learning outcomes

1. Identify and refine an appropriate dissertation question for examination.

2. Design and structure a 5,000 word dissertation.

3. Synthesize knowledge and skills previously gained on the Guernsey Certificate in International Insurance Management and apply these to in-depth study.

4. Demonstrate appreciable theoretical and practical knowledge of the topic under investigation.

5. Employ appropriate judgment, reasoning and analytical skills in the development of a logical argument supported by evidence.

6. Exercise independent thought and critical thinking

7. Offer logical conclusions / recommendations from the discussion.

8. Provide details of and references to research undertaken in the preparation of your dissertation.
